should I shut this blog down?

Hi all
Its been a while since I wrote anything in this blog and I was wondering whether to shut it down and just maintain Andrew's facebook page instead. At the moment I'm not doing either, so your thoughts on whether I should do one or the other would be much appreciated.

Andrew's short term auditory memory remains poor and he still suffers from fatigue and doesn't do much unless prompted . His visual and long term memories are quite good.

He loves to play guitar with friends and this is the only thing that really seems to raise his level of interaction with the world, unless he feels under threat in anyway or is doing something unusual.

The prognosis is that he will either stay the same or get improve slowly.

I went back to work 20 hrs a week, mostly from home, in October. I only go into the office for 8-10 hours when carers look after Andrew.

Andrew now sings in a choir once a week and helps the guitar tutor at the local weekly Saturday morning music school. He also attends Headway ( the brain injury charity) once a week for 3 hours.

We are interacting with a range of health professionals - occupational therapist, neuro-nurse, consultants at the Luton & Dunstable & Harefield, GP. We go back to Harefield this Friday for hopefully the final test to see whether the device that was put in his heart to close the hole is working properly. Also we interact with various charities. Basically, anything I have been offered we have explored. This means that he will be getting free gym membership on the Healthy Steps to Employment programme for 12 weeks soon.

Andrew did quite a long gig on New Year's Eve in Hitchin, and I am hoping that he will do 2 more with Stomp soon.

If no-one comments on this blog I will shut it down and update his facebook page regularly. If you want me to keep it going, please let me know and I will try to update it more frequently!

Gill

  3. Hi Gill

Sorry I have been so rubbish about keeping in touch - but I wanted to check in and see how Andy is doing and I must say, your narrative is so descriptive that I feel I am completely in the picture in terms of where he was in January. I will now have a look at his facebook page but would certainly appreciate updates either way. I know Richard Carman has been enquiring as to Andrew's wellbeing. I hope you are enjoying being 'back at work' in some respects... and hope that Andrew continues on his journey of recovery.
    Love Hilary x
