Spent 4 hrs yesterday in the A&E dept at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital waiting for someone to look again at a rather spectacular wound & bruising that Andrew acquired on his right arm at Harefield, where a needle was put in during theatre. He is bruised from wrist to elbow in 5 shades of the rainbow. I had called Harefield about it in the morning as it had gone hard and lumpy and they had said that if that happened to the other main wound it would require action. They said go to casualty. The L&D said it is a "false aneurysm" and prescribed a course of penicillen, as it is very prone to infection, but otherwise should disperse over a number of weeks. The doctor said "we often get this from Harefield"; I wasn't sure whether he was joking...The A& E dept was a horror of misery and I was very glad to be out of it (I'm referring to the patients, not the hospital or staff who were flat out trying to cope with them all)
